Florence is the city where the Italian language was born and where Dante Allighieri invented it. You will see where this important writer lived. You will then visit the most popular bridge in the city: “Ponte Vecchio.” Here there are still vendors selling the most luxurious jewellery in the city. Very close is one of the biggest leather markets of Florence and a place to find luck. It is considered good luck to rub the nose of “il Porcellino,” a small pig bronze statue located in the middle of this lovely market. The visit will continue with the “Academy Gallery” where Michelangelo’s “David” stands in all of his majesty.
Your guide will explain the story of this famous sculpture and the way Michelangelo transformed and manipulated like butter such a large piece of marble into his most famous masterpiece.
After a busy and enjoyable morning, you will have time on your own for lunch and shopping. In the afternoon we will discover the second most visited museum in Europe: “Uffizi.” The masterpieces “Birth of Venus” and “La Primavera” of Botticelli are housed here, but these are only two of the many pieces in the Medici family collection. Before traveling back to Rome, we will drive to Michelangelo Square for a gorgeous view and say “Arrivederci” to this breath-taking town.
