Visit the magical island of Capri, which is the most visited Italian island in the Tyrrhenian Sea and attracts over 2 million visitors every year, in one day. Since Roman times, it has been a popular a touristic resort. Famous Roman Emperors like Tiberius constructed their beautiful villas on the island.
We will drive to the south of Italy on the A1 highway that is also named “autostrada del sole.” It is the longest highway in Italy, and it was constructed in 1950. During that time, the workers gave it the nickname because they were always looking to the south and to the sun! We will make a coffee stop in Montecassino to enjoy the view of this famous abbey founded by Saint Benedict and heavily bombed by the allies during the second world war.
We will continue our drive to the port of Naples, which is the third biggest port in Italy. Here we will take a fast hydrofoil to Capri. A local guide will be waiting for us at the port. The first part of the visit will be dedicated to Anacapri on the summit of the island at 450 feet above the sea level. Here you will have the chance to explore Villa San Michele with its beautiful garden or to take a chairlift to the very top of the Solaro Mountain where you will enjoy a gorgeous panoramic view.
After some free time and exploration, it is time for a great lunch and a typical Italian pizza! We will continue our visit in Capri and see the beautiful “piazzetta,” the centre of international jet-set, and the magnificent Augustus gardens with its 180 degree view of the Mediterranean and the famous “Faraglioni.”
You will then enjoy some free time for shopping or take an optional ride to the popular “Blue Grotto.” Before leaving the island, don’t forget to refresh your taste buds with a delicious lemon “Granita”! Goodbye, Capri!
